Oats Banana Pancake Recipe (6 months+)

Oats Banana Pancake Recipe (6 months+)

This is a simple pancake recipe that I use for Noor which she gobbles up in minutes. Not just Noor but even me and my husband love eating them.

This recipe can be made both with or without egg and is a great way to get balanced nutrition to babies!

Ingredients:

  • Medium-sized ripe banana
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk (for eggless version)
  • 1/4 cup of oats powder or ragi powder or whole wheat flour (atta)
  • ¼ tbsp vanilla extract/essence (optional)
  • Ghee
  • Nut Powder, Peanut Butter, Cinnamon (optional)
  • Additional fruits like blueberries or strawberries (optional)

Procedure:

  • Take a medium-sized ripe banana, mash it in a bowl with a fork and whisk.
  • Add 1 egg to it and mix. Keep whisking to make a mixture.
  • For an eggless version, skip the egg and add ½ cup of milk instead.
  • Add ¼ cup (60 ml) of oats powder. Oats powder is made by dry roasting the oats and then, grinding them.
  • Alternatively, you can even use ragi powder or whole wheat flour (atta) in place of oats.
  • Add ¼ tbsp vanilla extract/essence (optional).
  • Add 1 tbsp milk (skip this step if you are making the eggless version).
  • Mix well and rest the batter for 10-15 minutes.
  • Check for consistency after resting.
  • Now, pour the batter on a hot and lightly greased pan.
  • Add some ghee on the sides and cook for 1-2 minutes till bubbles start appearing.
  • Then, flip the batter and cook for another 1 minute.
  • Oats Banana Pancake is ready to serve!
  • Note: Nut Powder, Peanut Butter and Cinnamon can also be added to the batter.

Important Notes:

  • If you are following BLW, you can offer them in long strips at 6 months+ and proceed to small bites around the 9 months+ mark!
  • If you are following TW, offer them as small bites around the 9 months+ mark. They are excellent food to start transitioning to solid foods.
  • You can even add Peanut Butter, Almond Butter, Nut powder or even additional fruits like blueberries or strawberries while making the pancake to change the flavour
  • It can be made with all kinds of flour – oats, ragi, jowar, wheat

Happy eating 🙂
