Red Sauce Pasta Recipe (9 months+)

Red sauce pasta for babies (9 months+), toddlers & Adults

This Red Sauce Pasta recipe is a family favourite and I make it in the exact same way for Noor – without any modifications.

Noor likes spicy & tangy food just like us. She eats this very quickly whenever I offer this to her for lunch/dinner! It’s very healthy also as it is primarily vegetables that she is eating. So, I don’t even mind serving it to her once or twice a week!


  • 3 tomatoes
  • 1 carrot
  • ½ Red Bell Pepper
  • Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp of chopped garlic
  • Chilli flakes (optional)
  • 1 small finely chopped onion
  • Salt (Avoid for below 1 years)
  • Black Pepper Powder
  • Dried Oregano/Basil or Mixed Italian Herbs
  • Lentil/Millet Pasta
  • Grated Cheese


  • In a grinder, add 3 tomatoes, 1 carrot and ½ red bell pepper and blend all of them together to a smooth puree.
  • Heat some olive oil in a pan and add 1 tbsp of chopped garlic to it. Fry it till the raw smell disappears.
  • Now, add some chilli flakes (optional).
  • Add 1 small finely chopped onion and fry it till the colour of the onion turns pink.
  • After this, add the blended puree and stir well.
  • Add salt (avoid for below 1 years), black pepper powder and dried oregano/basil or mixed Italian herbs and stir all of them together.
  • Lower the flame, cover the pot, and let it cook for 20 minutes.
  • After 20 minutes, open the lid, add a little hot water to the sauce and let it cook for another 10 minutes.
  • In the meantime, take a Dutch oven or a big bowl separately and add water and a pinch of salt to it. (Avoid salt for below 1 years).
  • Add handful of lentil/millet pasta and let it boil for 7-10 minutes.
  • The pasta sauce is ready. Add handful of grated cheese, mix, and cook the sauce further till the cheese melts.
  • Add a little hot water to adjust consistency.
  • Now, add the boiled pasta to the sauce and mix well.
  • Delicious Red Sauce Pasta is ready to serve.
  • Note: Chopped veggies or chicken can be added for older kids.
