Tomato Mixed Veggie Soup (6 months+)

Baby weaning recipe #1: Tomato mixed veggie soup for 6 months+ babies

This recipe can be used for all ages. Also, it’s a great soup even for adults! We have this soup many a times – we just keep tomato, onion, garlic, clove, and carrot for ourselves to get a tangier taste.

  • Super nutritious due to various vegetables
  • Keeps the baby full
  • Helps the baby’s stomach gets adjusted to digestion of vegetables

  • ½ onion
  • ½ tomato
  • ½ carrot
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • ½ beetroot
  • Few leaves of spinach
  • 3 small pieces of capsicum
  • 2 florets of broccoli
  • 2 cloves
  • Note: You can add even more vegetables to this, if they are available at home for providing more nutrients to your child. For instance, beans and bottle gourd (lauki) – anything that’s easily available at home.

  • Take a pressure cooker and add all the vegetables in it.
  • Pour some water over the vegetables, about over 2 inches, just enough to cover them and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  • After this, let them cool for 1-2 minutes.
  • Once cooled, take the vegetables out of the pressure cooker and blend them in a blender. I use the Wonderchef Nutriblend @wondercheflife.
  • Ensure that you don’t use all the water to blend the vegetables, just enough to have a semi liquid puree.
  • You can add some more or all the water as per your choice, to make the puree a bit soupier.
  • Once blended, pour the puree back in the pressure cooker and cook for 5 to 10 mins to achieve desired consistency. You can add the leftover water in case the puree becomes too thick.
  • Add a dash of pepper (optional) to help the baby get accustomed to spices from an early age.
  • Once it gets to room temperature, it’s ready to serve!
  • Note: Avoid salt till 1 year of age as their kidneys are not developed to process any amount of extra sodium.
  • You can always store the extra soup in fridge for later use.
  • This recipe can be used for all ages.
